Perfect for:
Hi, my name is Mikkel deMib
I’m really glad you’re here. I fell in love with pottery as a kid, completely drawn in by the feeling of clay in my hands and the quiet magic of shaping something from nothing. That spark never left and it’s turned into a lifelong passion I still carry with me today.
Over the years, I’ve explored many forms of ceramics, but it was pit firing that truly stole my heart. There’s something raw, unpredictable, and deeply beautiful about the process. The way fire, earth, and time come together to create one-of-a-kind surfaces—each piece telling its own story—it’s simply mesmerizing.
I created this course because I love sharing this ancient technique and inspiring others to discover the joy and creativity it brings. Whether you’re completely new to pottery or have been at it for years, I hope to spark that same passion in you and help you uncover the magic of pitfire.
Let’s dive in and get our hands dirty!

What is Pitfire Pottery?
Pitfire pottery is one of the oldest and most natural ways to fire clay, dating back thousands of years. The pots are placed in a bonfire with materials like wood, leaves, sawdust, salts and oxides. The fire and smoke create beautiful, unpredictable patterns and rich earthy colors. Every piece is a unique surprise from the flames.
